Nicholas.. I already did... :D

Anyone want to go down with me next weekend to pick this up ?.. It is about a 90 minute drive each way. He already has a dolly that we can use to move it (I will have to take it back down to him later).

The tank is 1' wider and deeper (front to back) than we had originally planned on, so it looks like we will end up having to move those water/drain lines after all now.

It is 6' X 4' X 25"

I have a conflict this weekend but am working to reserve a U-haul (or similar) truck for next weekend to pick it up. Bigred says that we will need about 5 guys down there to help get it on the truck (in addition to the 5 or so he can round up).

Then I need to round up an additional 5 or so to help take it off when we get up here....Going to jsut off load it on the dolly into the garage (it is mostly cleaned out now... was going to actually pull the car in next week sometime... but obviously not now I won't :)).

Sparkss if you have a trailer hitch or access to a car with one, you can rent one of these:

It's $38.00 one way and you have a three day time frame. They will accomodate a 4' wide tank easily. They have multiple tie latching points and a ramp (comes in super handy). Ratcheting tie downs can be purchased at Harbor Freight for $5.00.

Edit: Sorry $8.00

We used one to truck a 4 foot cube down to LA. It worked like a charm.

taco.. thanks for the info.

I had looked at the U-haul trailers, but they stated a 45 MPH max recommended speed. You had no issues all the way to LA on the freeway ?

Our SUV meets the minimum reqs for that trailer, np :) and we do have a few tie downs already, but to be honest, a bunch more wouldn't hurt a thing :)

I tried to go the speed limit (55), but there were places I had to go 85 or else the big rigs would have ran me over. We took the tank from Fresno to San Bernardino, basically as far in as you can go. I think the trucks have a recommended speed limit of 55.

The trailers are noisy and bouncy when empty, but when loaded, it was butter. The reason I picked an open trailer was so that people could climb in behind it and push, etc. Plus, I don't believe all the trucks don't have latch points. As long as the tank is crated or secured soundly, I can't see a problem. When we got to our destination, we pushed the tank down the ramp.

We are doing this again in a few weeks, and we are going to do the exact same thing.

Thanks Art, but I have a conflict with work this weekend :(, so we need to do it the following weekend, August 5, as BigRed stated :)

Most rental trucks have tie downs. If your load falls out, and they didn't provide tie downs, a lawsuit could entail. Plus, I think it's required of them by the DOT, but I could be wrong. I've never rented a truck with out one, and I've rented more then most have (one monthly for 4 years straight).

Cool Gresham,

I rented one two years ago (one of the little Toyota U-hauls) and it didn't have any. So we borrowed a load lock from a friend.

The trailer's loading ramp was a lifesaver.

Dunno is those lil Toy's are considerred trucks  I have no experience with anything under 16', I usually rented to largest available. Speakers weigh a lot, especially when moving a 32 piece stadium set, with amp racks and a pallet of cinder blocks

aug 5 is my party... I wont be able to make it, as for uhaul I get the 6X12 they are more stable, and the only time I had a problem was when I loaded it with 3 tons of concreat, otherwise I drive at 70, then again my truck is a beast. if you do it another day let me know.
