Hi everyone,

I really need to trim this, and would like to offer frags for only $35. Minimum frag size will be 1".

Is this a fast grower ? I am still inching into sps and now that my other two sps are showing signs of coloring up Might be interested in getting in on this but dont want something that is going to be a stub for a year :P

This one drives me nuts at times:lol:. It's my fastest grower, and it's constantly shadowing my purple monster and ponape birdsnest:p

I see a Ponape torch down there. :) The bridsnest should be fine. Mine looks MUCH better in the shade. Isn't the PM a lower light coral anyway?

Hey Hector,

That's my PM at the upper left. It colored up better when I placed it at the bottom, but now it's mostly shaded. The birdsnest is completely shaded now.

I don't run actinics or 20k, so things aren't as blue as you'd normally see.

I would be interested in a piece. Let me know what you would want for a good size piece (no small frag- have too many and they are depressing me). I think the term I am looking for is 'mini-colony' or something along those lines with multiple branches. You can PM the details if you like.

Thanks!

What'd you think I meant, J?:p

1 sold to Dave. I can probably sell maybe 5 more.

Im confused now

Regardless, great coral from a great guy ;) Especially for the fact that people wouldnt have to pay the additional 50 on shipping OR wait for over a year for the opportunity to get this coral.

Ive wanted one for sometime, and almost got one from you but have been on the fence with it due to people thinking I have one already when they seem my tank :/
Only problem with the one I have is it doesnt get as vibrant of a green as the true Elias stags I've seen in person. The tips get as blue but the base is more dull on mine. What do you think? Youve seen pics of it before. I see 2 variations of the insignis that look just like it that are a vibrant green and a darker green base, but the one on reeffarmers is sold as a loisette which confuses me even more which makes sense as they are comparible to each other according to Veron, with the only real distinguishable visible traits being the contrast between the base and coralites of the axial coralite tip. I think Doug is the only one that knows his piece came from me, someone else as well but they got it after I gave it to John @yourreef. If he has both maybe he could tell me.

Bottom line, I need to get you over to my house and look at my stuff sometime Karl, would love to hear what you have to say :)

Anytime, Justin! I do remember seeing a pic of the piece you're referring to. It did look like a Steve Elias to me, and very well good be.

Your lighting is more toward the full spectrum range, so the color may not be 'popping' like it does under Reeffarmers Radiums. It also might look completely different to you from the top down.

I have em both............the steve elias has darker green rather than brown coralites and seems a bit more green to gray steely blue.......

Justins, yours I believe is a loisette and along the line of Hugos piece you are refering to.

This is the piece that got me thinking about what is rare and who determines it and the odds of being more than "the one" are quite high.

But in the end "there can be only one" and that coral then distinguishes itself from others transending and taking on a personality of its own........

For instance, I have a really good looking aquaculture superman danae.......but for some strange reason I want the real deal.....connection, collectability, and lineage I suppose.......

But I LOVE that piece I got from you. Currently the Steve Elias is still too small and hasn't grown out enough to do a side by side comparision, but rest assured you will be the first I call to have come over and look for yourself!!

On second thought I will snap a quick pic of it and post it since the color balance with the pics seems to be better with the new bulbs.

Ya that looks very similar to mine when I was running more of a 10k over the tank, the blues were really blue but the base is brown, like this:

Now that Ive shifted towards more of a 20k the base has gotten considerably darker green but not as many blue tips like this crappy picture but you can see the green on it in the very upper left hand corner

You should see how completely blue it gets under T5's like in David's tank (Duec22). It makes me want to go T5 for those hard to color up pieces.

Karl,
Your tank is beautiful and an inspiration! Thanks for the great deals on the frags and for the opportunity to view your tank.

Karl, it was a pleasure to finally meet you. Thank you for such awesome corals! I am very pleased with how they turned out.

I don't know about it being an 'inspiration'
