I've got several baby banggais for sale, $15 each, or trade for ?. I'm interested in getting some color in my tank, LPS or SPS. I'm in Vallejo.

They're grandkids of Undergrad's. BTW, is Arlan still active? I haven't seen him post here lately.

Dang Jim, I was hoping they weren't related to mine (also from Rian & Arlan's 52 banger clutch). Bought 3 and still have 3 but they're not spawning yet and was thinking of trading out of the gene pool. Yeah for captive bred.

Hi Jim,

Haven't had much time to get online. Glad to hear you are so successful. We lost the female to our pair but have another younger one that we are hoping will eventually sucessfully bred with our male. They have tried a couple times but the male is not keeping the eggs for more than a few days. Could be he is too old. I think he is going on 4 years now!

Rich, have patience, they are still pretty young and Arlan said your fish are smaller than our male we kept in our main tank. We kept him because he was the largest. We have a female in our other tank and she is much smaller than he is.

Rian, the original female died last summer, but when I transfered a full grown banggai from my other tank a few months later, they immediately "danced". 50/50 went in my favor that time.

This is their 1st cluth, only 14 were spit out. 12 survived the 1st month, hopefully they're all still alive. There's tons of chaeto in the fuge, and they seem to like it, picking on the pods, etc. Someone's picking up two tonight or tomorrow, I'll be able to do an accurate count after removing all the macro algae.

Rich, they had tank bred banggers from Indo stock a couple of months back down at Mermaid(?). MorandiWine's shop. I was tempted to trade, but hate to break up a mating pair. Incest is best. ;) Reminds me of The Peacocks, X-Files "Home" episode. Those who saw it will know what I'm talking about.

I'm thinking of one for my 12g nano. Would that be a decent home for one? Two?? Will you be at the next meeting?

you might be able to fit two in a 12g as long as they are the only fish and it is not full of rocks or corals. They can grow pretty big. Our male's body is probably half the size of my palm with fins extending from the body. One would be fine for sure, and it does take a few years for them to get that big.

Rats. Well, I could come out to Vallejo this weekend. You want to PM me with your details and best time?

According to the experts, it's impossible to tell the sexes apart. Seems like for every rule of thumb, there's an exception.

When you only have two and one starts to carry, then you know it's the male. :)
