I have an adult Fu Manchu (Twinspot) lionfish that I've had for over a year in a 75 gallon FOWLR. He eats frozen krill or silversides about 3-4 times per week. He is active and behaves normally. For the past 2-3 months he has had clear bubbles under the skin of his face. They don't appear anywhere else on his body and I can't see anything moving in the bubbles. I'm not going to touch them because of the risk of getting stung.... 
No other fish in the tank are showing any signs of problems.
The only thing I have ever heard of is "Gas bubble disease." But I don't really understand how this would have happened. I haven't changed any equipment. I can't get a decent picture of him, but I will keep trying. Does anyone have any ideas?
