Fuge Concerns

I am building the fuge for my new frag tank. Below are two ideas on how to build it. The baffles are already in place in the acrylic tank I got for this project and cannot be moved.

Basically I am only looking at the placement of the overflow. It is currently at the top as seen in Idea 1. I was thinking Idea two might be better as water would not become stagnent(sp) in the final section as it seems it would only overflow the water that comes over the baffle. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Rips on my talent with my desktop sharpie collection at work are not welcome.

are you saying its already drilled as shown in option 1?

if so I'd keep it that way....99.8% of all other fuges empty from the top (usually via overflow or drain as you would have)....also I think option two would just add more bubbles to wherever the water is going from the fuge

The water water is draining to my sump and will be going through more baffles before the return to the tank.

I have no problem drilling again and patching the old with something else.

Is it going to gravity drain down to the display?

The water will be spilling over the overflow along the entire length so it won't go stagnant. If you're worried about it, you could plumb an "S" in the top overflow so it grabs the water from the middle of the baffled area.

Last baffled section with overflow is 10" deep.

The overflow is 3/4".

Yes it will be gravity fed.

If you guys say it wont go stagnent i hear you, I will leave it where it is.

mayo's idea is good...throw an elbow on there or somethign and it will intake from the middle

however once its running IM almost certain if youw antch the water go over the wall into the overflow that you'll see little bubbles going all the way to the bottom, circulating the water in by the drain

It's gravity fed? How is it going to return to the tank? Pump or an Escher staircase?

I think he means the drain...of course it could be both

it could drain from the tank into the fuge, then from the fuge down to the sump and then be pumped from the sump
