fumes toxic?

I will be redoing my sump so while im at it i would like to paint the exposed wood inside my stand with some sort of protectant. is there any precautions i need to take in regards to the fumes the paint/sealer give off. i will be doing this in a well ventilated basement.

Your skimming will basically be dumping the chemicals into your tank through the venturi.



I wouldn't do it w/o covering the entire sump, and keeping the skimmer off until the sealant is completely dry. I'm sure you would want to cover the tank as well.

It depends on the paint/sealer you are using. As a general rule though, yeah you should avoid inhaling fumes.

Wear a respirator, open windows and get a few fans going to ventilate the area. Never hurts to be safe.
