Fungus Treatment?

A friend of mine brought me a small Yellow Tang to put in my QT tank, he doesn't have one. It has what looks to be a white fungus growing on it's left front fin, right on the tip. Other then that, it appears to be fully healthy. It's been eating great, and has great color.

So my question is, What's the best medicine to use to treat this?

Thanks,

Steve

If it's right on the tip of the fin I'm betting it's Lymphocystis, a virus which usually goes away on it's own. Feed vitamin enriched nutritious foods and do frequent WCs to maintain excellent water quality to help his immune system beat this.

Yeah, fungus in fish is quite rare. Its fuzzy or cottony looking. Lympho looks like miniature cottage cheese or cauliflower. If its fungus, let us know, there are a couple good fungicides and lots of worthless ones. you don't to use one unless you're sure its fungus, though.

Yeah, I think you're right. It looks like it's just something stuck to his left fin, no other marks on his body at all. He's eating like a big, has great color, very active.........just don't want that infection to spread to other fish.

Lympho is a virus and really not contagious.
