Tell us about your favorite funny or crazy fish tank story. It can be about flooding, weird fish behavior, unexpected happenings, or anything amusing about your tank.
I have a hawkfish that disappeared one day. He is a longnose hawk and a dear friend of mine. His name is Gary. So anyway, one day I noticed that Gary was no where to be seen. i search high and low throughout the 120 reef tank. I moved rocks, removed rocks, and tried feeding of course. Still no sign of Gary. I then took all of the supplements and cleaning material from beneath my stand out. I crawled behind the tank to look in the back to see if he was back there. Sure enough he was. He looked a little pale. I thought, " oh god" he is dead. I took a close look at him and there was a huge growth on his nose. I thought, how on earth did he get that tumor. Upon closer inspection, i discovered that it was not a growth, but an astrea snail on the end. apparently, Gary wanted to snack on an astrea this day. The snail did not want to become a snack though, so he latched onto Gary, sucking his nose into the shell. I put my hands in the tank to move Gary. He started swimming away. It was quite hilarious watching this hawkfish swim around with a snail stuck to his face. I eventually got the snail off and Gary is still happy - and no longer snacks on snails.
