Furan-2 dip

After noticing some white spots on the stalks and outside of my zoas i figure its zoa pox. I tried dipping the frag in furan-2 three days in a row. Doesnt seem to have eliminated the problem. Any ideas?

Give it time. They don't always go away after the first dose. Let them rest for another 3 days and then try it again. How long are you soaking them? How much water are you mixing the furan in?

coralpedia recommends do them for 3 days in a row then let rest for a week. So im not sure. Personal experience means more to me. One of my red hornets looksperfect now it only had one spot but others seem to be strggling. Last time ill ever buy online. Seems every piece had pox or maybe has spread idk

I've done it based on the coralpedia recommendations also....doing the 3 straight days then waited 6 days and did 3 more.

I didn't notice a huge difference the first 3 days but after the next treatment i did. It did work, but it wouldn't surprise me if doing it on 3 day intervals would work very well. Good luck

for a few frags this is their second go around and they look better. others its their first and starting to look ok. Cant believe this seller would sell pox infested frags as well as one with hyrdriods as well

Glad to hear they are coming around. I used the coralpedia method and cured 4/6 frags that had pox. The other two I just didn't notice until it was too late.

I hear ya. It's a hard thing to deal with but that is why most sites recommend quarantines and dips before adding them to your display.

Thing is sometimes they'll just catch it as part as shipping stress, especially if they show up a day or two after they're in your tank. Always a good plan to put new zoanthids frags in decent flow to get any shipping bacteria and slime off of them.

Sorry to :deadhorse: but always do a lugols iodine or formalin dip followed by a 10+ day quarantine if you were not already so that whatever they have doesn't spread... Including hitchhikers.

Thanks Urchinhead!
I used to buy at the drug store but they discontinued.
All the drug stores here don't have it anymore.
We can buy Lugol only with doctor's prescription.
I was wondering if that's only a local problem.

There are different types of Lugol solutions too. The percentage changes...
Normally 2% is enough for our purposes.
Iodine tincture is another product I used to buy locally long ago and it's discontinued from all the drug stores I know of.

Cheers mate. You should be able to have it shipped in from the mainland without too much hassle other than the shipping.

Well, I still can do that.
I was wondering if you guys had the same trouble to find the products over the shelves. :)
