Future of the Hobby

I for one am definitely on the nano reef band wagon, but what about the rest of the hobby? Is the hobby going miniature or is it just me? Some thing about a reef that I can pick up and take with me is extremely appealing. What do you think?

I've noticed in a lot of posts on forums that questions are being related to nano tanks. It's funny because in different articles they say that a larger tank is a lot easier to keep stable. I myself have a 150 and when things aren't stable it's a lot easier on the wallet to do a lot more water changes on a nano than a larger tank.
Also there's only so much you can put into a nano ( another savings)

I love my 24 g aquapod. The 12g was waaay to small, but the 24 is just right. In a year or so, I think i may move up to a 45, and we'll have the 180 started soon.

Speaking for myself , I just cant get into small tanks because I want too much stuff. I recently upgraded my too small 37 gallon to a 72 and already packed it out .lol
Everyone is always upgrading it seems. Alex has some awesome smaller tanks that are very neatly detailed and colorful with different themes like one is a mantis setup, one is alot of wild looking shrimp and flame scallops and stuff and one is an eel setup.

I have a 180 reef and want to build a larger reef tank if/when we move. I would also like to add a FOLR tank too (min 180)!

Future of the Hobby

That is a good one Ben. I guess it depends on the what you are interested in, but I think the biggest advance I look for is a reduction in the cost to maintain a tank, some uniformity in the husbandry and I hope that we can keep a enough diversity in corals when the new laws are enacted so each tank looks different. Boy is that a run on sentenance.

Of course, Ben is the father of the nanotank in Jacksonville. I loved the ten gallon ones at the old Atlantis store.

I like my 230 ga nano tank and am running out of room , Big is always better thats what I was always told , easier to keep . I will have to agree with you about the nano tank at atlantis they were eye candy....
