Future Ricordea garden

I have a standard 6' long 125 gallon with a 4' 6 bulb ATI Sunpower T5 centered 12" over top. I bought a huge order of Ricordea so I can hopefully make an make an epic garden. For flow I have two WP-40s, one on each end. Here are my questions. Is that going to be too much light for them if I put them on the ends? Should I make a rubble pile to place them on or should I put them on the sand bed? How much flow can they tolerate and still be "happy"?

It really depends on your bulb combination. If you have bulbs for color like 3x ATI blue plus and 1X purple then they'll do great, if you have 1 or more white bulbs then they may or may not do well since they can get burned by whiter spectrums. I have some under high flow that look ok, but low to medium flow seems best. You probably want to attach them to rubble or rock instead of letting them float on the sandbed.

I have 1 ATI Purple Plus, 2 ATI Aquablue Special, and 3 ATI Blue Plus. They are set to run the Purple and Aquablue from 9am-4pm and the Blue Plus from 9am-5pm. My LED moon light strip runs from 9pm- 2am. I found out last night that these will be on frag discs. I do not think 100+ frag discs in my tank will be attractive.

100 ricordia? That is enough to cover your tank in a year. Remember you have to give them room to inflate then split and grow.

The way I have done it is to use bone cutters to snip the plug down to just where it is attached then glue that

It's a little more than 100. I have several tanks though so I can spread them out if I wish. My wife has a 55 softy tank with PC lighting. My daughter has a 29 Biocube with stock lighting (I won it in a $5 raffle in November). My son has a 40b with a 150w MH. I have my 125 with T5s and I have a 8 gallon Nano (I won last week in a $5 raffle) that I haven't set up yet.

It's a little more than 100. I have several tanks though so I can spread them out if I wish. My wife has a 55 softy tank with PC lighting. My daughter has a 29 Biocube with stock lighting (I won it in a $5 raffle in November). My son has a 40b with a 150w MH. I have my 125 with T5s and I have a 8 gallon Nano (I won last week in a $5 raffle) that I haven't set up yet.

We have over a 100 Florida ricordias in my 40g it really doesnt take up much space lol I've found they prefer lower light as well as lower flow , i also find they get small and wither away in to much flow or to much light .

I'm still new to Ricordea Floridas, but half of mine are in the top third of the tank under LEDs and seem to be thriving - all huge and thriving. I've got two MP40s throwing a ton of water nearby, too.

They came in yesterday and the majority of them are bleached or smashed. I picked up the box labeled "glass" and "this end up" from FedEx and it was visibly wet on top. I got it home, opened it up, and felt sick. The top 1/3 to 1/2 of the box looked like it had been very rough handled and the stress caused messed up the rics. The containers looked like slimy milk. There were a lot of empty frag plugs with loose rics in the containers. The deeper I got in the box, the better off they were. All in all I had 67 on discs or plugs and a lot of loose snot. I put the snot in plastic containers with rubble and mesh on top hoping they are alive and will attach. Almost $700 messed up by FedEx and rough handling. The seller has been notified and he said that he will send me some replacements. Now I get to babysit damaged coral instead of enjoying them.

Hate to hear that. I have a ric garden mid tank med flow and under led. Started with 3 small ones and now they have grown to around 7 and are huge. Such beautiful corals. I hope yours recover.

I counted the other night and I came up with 102 on one count and 103 on the other. Keep in mind that 2/3 are still pretty bleached but I think I am done with the die off (knock on wood). It's pretty hard to get an accurate count though because some are almost clear and the size of an eraser head while others have 8 mouths and stretch up the front of a frag plug to the other side and back down to the front again in a big lower case "n". As soon as I can figure out how to use my wife's camera I will take some pictures.

Low light. They can live under the overhangs of caves on small rubble ruck. I have had some out in the open under LEDS and bleach out. They seem to like indirect lighting. I also shoot some liquid oyster food every week or so at them.
