How reef safe are these guys and what will they eat in the reef aquarium?(As in corals, inverts, anemones ect...)Thanks, Mad

They'll eat anybody they can fit into their mouths, so it depends on the sizes of your other fish and if you have ornamental shrimp, etc.

actually they are very reefsafe, ie they won't bother corals or sessile inverts. However i call them reef-limiting, in that they will eat any small community fish or moving shrimp that fit into their mouths.

Have you read the lionfish info sheet yet?

I have one in my reef (well reef in the making)and he is really awesome. Just don't keep an fish that can fit in their mouths and no shrimp. Mine eats krill and ghost shrimp and doesn't bother my damsel or royal gramma. Here is is pertching next to his favorite coral.

will they bother anemones at all? Im not worried as much about it eating smaller fish right now as i havent even gotten him to eat anything yet(had him for 2 days) and there is one last chromis left in the tank that im surprised he hasnt gotten by now. But all of the other fish are big enough to not be eaten. Also will he eat hermits and snails? Because so far he hasnt showed any interest in them and i keep getting mixed replies/research about them and inverts. Thanks!!! Mad

They wouldn't bother an anemone. They are pretty inactive unless they are eating, which they do in one huge gulp. They do not "pick" at things like many fish (angels, triggers) do, that is why sessile inverts are not at risk. They may eat a crab or snail occassionally (it seems like they may try it at least once, but I've not heard a lot of firsthand accounts of it happening), but probably not often enough to break the bank. Just keep it well fed if you want to keep collateral damage to a minimum.

Lol, I quoted myself again. Anyway, my point is that I highly doubt a fuzzy dwarf lion would bother an anemone. Your fish would be pretty unique if it did.
