This is Mason, a male g. ternatensis that I bought about a month or so ago.
Mason seems to be getting more comfortable in his new home. He was out and about tonight when I went to feed him. I am not sure if the chromis was making him nervous or not- the motion overhead was making him feel unsafe?? Or if he was just adjusting as normal??
I was glad to see him acting more like a mantis than a scaredy cat.
I have not worked on his tank as much as I would like to- I have been waiting for him to get more comfortable so it does not stress him out.
All of the Corals were already attached to the rock that is in there- so I want to work on that more- considered adding a burrow for him made out of PVC and inside coated with sand. He is not making any effort to make a burrow- he hides in a small existing cave in the rock- and it is pretty small for him- I can't imagine him having privacy enough to molt. And from what I have read g. ternatensis usually live in coral colonies- so maybe that is why he is not constructing. He has whacked some rocks but not made any effort that I can see to move any rubble.
The tank is a Biocube 8 which will be on the small side for him when he at full growth- but I have other tanks that I can transfer him to when necessary.
