Galaxy or Ice Cap Ballast?

Which one would you reccomend for 250 watt MH bulbs? Some people rave over the ice caps and others on the gallaxy.

I have only used IceCap, never galaxy. Liked it and parts were easy to get.

Different ballasts with different bulbs all produce different results.

Rick, fishdoc11, and some others all know a lot more about than I do, but its something to consider.

Probably a double end 250 watt 14k. I really want radium 20k bulbs but as far as I know they only come in mogul. Thinking about going up to 400 watt.

Go with 400w mongul Radiums on either a M80 or Icecap ballast for an awesome setup. Growth will be crazy with an M80 ballast. Some people run them with Galaxy's, but I am not to crazy about them.

Have you see the new Lumatech dimmable ballasts. They look really promissing.

Yep, for some reason there aren't any 250w DE radiums.

I have been using a Galaxy ballast (250 watt running AQ SE bulbs) for the last 2 years or so. It has a 3 year guarantee and mine went out one side a couple of months ago. They sent me a replacement with no questions.

How do you like the AQ SE bulbs? I have heard good things about them and also that their lifespan is about a year.

I like them a lot. I actually got around 18 months out of my first set before I started to see a significant drop off in color.
