Garage tanks

Anyone have any large tanks in a garage? If so, how do you handle heating and cooling for a big water volume? I've been thinking about trying something in the garage (I have probably 90% of the parts I need just collecting dust, including a 1/2hp chiller). I would probably end up with approx 250g total water volume.

KEEPERZ 750 is an inwall into his house from the garage. He sealed up the door well and uses a mini-split for heating and cooling, his seems to work great and he's in vegas where its 110 regularly. Ours will be in an enclosed carport and I'm going to run designated vents from the central air as well as heavy evaporation from the basement sump. With 250g volume you shouldn't have too much of a problem with much larger tanks its easier and cheaper to heat/cool the surroundings than the tank water itself.

Thanks for the reply. What's a "mini-split"? I won't be able to insulate and cool/heat the garage. Its either the chiller or don't do it for me.

its a split AC system but compact, the compressor goes outside, they can heat and cool. I'm guessing its high 90's there so you'll need to bring the tank down 10-20 degrees, that would be stretching it with a 1/2 hp IMO if you're using halides. I'd set up something small and see what temp you are holding at then decide from there. If you evaporated enough water you could bring it down 10 degrees easy.

Thanks. I think I'm going to fill the tub with freshwater and the chiller in the garage and watch the temp on some hot days. Seems like the best place to start. That won't be close to the final w/ halides, pumps, etc. But if that's too high to deal with then I might as well give up.
