gate valve mod bubble problems

happy easter everbody!

im having problems lately with micro and a little bit bigger bubbles coming out of my gate valve mod for my asmg-2. i have tried everything except for gluing the plumbing together. i know if not glued it can creat micro bubbles but i also read not to glue them together because of maintenance. can somebody tell me what im doing wrong here?

GLUE OR NOT TO GLUE THAT IS THE QUESTION!

White or Pink Teflon tape may fit the bill before resorting to glue.

thanx for the idea cleveyank. i tried a pipe laying around in the garage and the tape has nothing(threads) to grab onto, keeps spinning on pipe. also the diameter of the 90 is way to tight. one time i was doing some plumbing in my other house and in a rush i forgot to put the glue onto the fitting. i did clean the fitting and pipe then i put the two together not even thinking, my brother called me on the mistake while he was watching me do it. the point is when i tried to pull the two apart it was really hard like they sealed together. my thought is if im pulling the mod apart i miles well just glue it instead of doing the solution.

The tape works on non-threaded too. You just start the wrap further back and hold the end with your thumb until it holds and then work that band down towards the end of the pipe. You could even roughen up pipe by using some 220 grit sandpaper in a perpendicular direction to the round and round the end of the teflon tape. It will grip. Although not as instantaneous as gluing it. You will not lose the ability to clean it that the modding experts mentioned as a plus by not gluing it.

Or you glue things together and WITH a threaded union (or 2) into the design so that you can still service it. (pics of that are on most Ca reactors or on some skimmers that use a beckett injector for help what that looks like) It's out there if you google.

i have an asm g2 and did not use tape or glue, and while there are some more microbubbles in my skimmer section they never make it to my return

Hi,

If the micro bubbles are making it into your tank then move your skimmer output as far a way as possible from your return input.
