Thought I would show you some pictures I took last month at the Georgia Aquarium. I had to spent 3 weeks working in Atlanta, so I was able to visit The Georgia Aquarium, The Tennessee Aquarium, and a few LFS in the area. Will post pics of the Tennessee Aquarium and LFS in another post.

The Georgia Aquarium is located right in Downtown Atlanta, across the street from the Olympic Village Park. Very easy to find.

The Georgia Aquarium is know for having a 6 million gallon tank. It is hard to show the size in pictures, but I did get a few. I will save those for the end of this post....

What is an aquarium, without Beluga Whales.... They have 4 in this huge tank. The whales seemed to be watching us more then we were watching them. The one was even smiling at everyone.

The Sea Turtle was one of my favorites. He just seems to effortlessly flow through the water.

The large 6 million gallon tank has several of these large Rays. I was actually in a tunnel when I took this picture. I sure hope people have stopped hurting these creatures as revenge for Steve Irwin's death.

Is it just me, or does this seem like a heavy BIO-LOAD for a tank?????

The Jellyfish were in a couple of different tanks. Was very hard to get a good picture, this was the best I came up with....

PART 2

The Coral Reef area was very unique. The Acrylic curved up over your head and there were waves crashing into it. Made the reef alive with movement......

Where are the RC Tang Police?????

The Ray petting area was nice, but made me alittle concerned. There were small hammerhead sharks also swimming around in there!!!! YIKES !!!!!

This area was wild. As you were looking at the tanks, there was another separate tank over your head. The entire ceiling was the bottom of a tank. WILD I say !!!! WILD !

Part 3 - Final of the Georgia Aquarium

Part 3 - Final of the Georgia Aquarium

Well, the big draw of the Aquarium is the 6 million gallon tank. There are 4 Whale Sharks in the tank. The largest is 33 ft long, if I remember correctly. It was very hard to photograph just because of the size and lighting. The main viewing wall was about 60 feet by 40 feet. and it was unsupported by anything! Just a huge acrylic wall!!!!

I wonder if ART made it?????

Here is one of the Whale Sharks and his posse.

The wall was actually made by a Japanese Company. They brought it over in 6 pieces and put up a privacy wall when they installed it. It is a trade secret on how they are able to make it without any seems visable.... The darn this is 2 feet thick!!!!!!

Normally, I NEVER get in front of the camera, but I need my big rearend to truly show how thick the wall is!

If you are anywhere near Atlanta, this is a great place to visit. Now, I was disappointed with the limited number of tanks they have. The building is huge, but they do not have as many separate tanks as the Tennessee Aquarium or Shedds Aquarium in Chicago.
