Get outside air into tank?

Does anyone have a good idea on how to get outside air into the tank? Given that the tank is in the basement, in a room with no windows, and the skimmer is an AquaC Urchin so it has no air intake.

My problem is low pH due to excess CO2. I have looked at many air pumps, but none of them seem to have an air inlet that could be attached to an air line that I could run outside, or at least to the air intake for my furnace.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Ah hah, I recently had to do the same thing to fix my low pH. Bubbling air from outside raised the pH of a cup of tank water from 7.9 to 8.4!

Get a Whisper 60 or 100 ($25 tops) and an air tight plastic storage container big enough to hold it. See where this is going...? Now all that remains is a small GAC filter and 50' or 3/4 flexible tubing. Bingo, outside air bubbled right into your tank.

Get 2 air pumps and DIY yourself a nice CC airstone skimmer while you're at it.

I had this problem before with my aquarium. If you have a sump you could put an air pump in a well ventilated room with windows and run a long airline with an airstone in your sump. From what it sounds that would be your best bet.If you dont have a sump you could just put the aitstone in the back of your tank and put the air pump on a timer.Run the air pump during the night when the ph is at its lowest.

alpine,

I wish I had a well ventilated room. :) Unlike you lucky people in Florida, my whole house is sealed like a drum 6 months/year.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The trash can. Empty 2L Coke Bottle plus some GAC = great and dirt cheap air filter. This was also my water filter before I shelled out $200 for my Typhoon III.

Thanks

Thanks

It actually took quite a bit of hacking to make my avatar an animated gif and keep it under the 8K limit that RC allows. This image is originally like 50K and not as big.
