Getting GBTA to pick a spot

I just purchased a nice GBTA to go in my 40 bdr tank, and it hasn't stopped moving since I put it in the tank. I placed in directly under the halide (turned off for now) on the rocks, but it has been slowly making its way across the rockwork. Is there any way to help it pick a spot, or do I just have to wait till its happy?

He is going to go where he wants to, dont try to manipulate the issue, just let him be.

He is looking for the best spot for current and light (that suits him best not necessarily where the most current or light is). So with that when you do turn on the lights he may up and move again. But leave the lights off for now and let him adjust to his new environment.

Yeah I would say just let him go where he wants to move....however, if you want to I have heard of people using chop sticks to place into the LR around the nem to box him in place....just something that I heard....

I have just been watching it and moving any corals that it comes close to in order to prevent them from getting stung. It seems to have settled in the rock work, so I have a feeling that it will start moving again once the lights come back on.

Well, the GBTA has picked a spot (I think). How long till I can be pretty sure that it will not move? It has been in the same position for the last 12 hours, with no signs of moving at all, whereas before it was moving almost constantly.

Never. Could pick up and take off at any moment for the rest of eternity.

I might start to get less paranoid after a couple months though

Yep they are right let it go where it wants to. Use your normal lighting. It may stay about halfway down the rock with MH lighting. Bury it's foot inside the rock and you will only see tentacles.

Unlike corals it will choose it's own lighting and current. However for some reason some stores are morons and don't give them good lighting. So take shock into account. It will move after the light shock is over and sit possibly forever at it's happy spot.

It moved again last night. Now it is in between the side glass of the tank and the overflow box, attached to the glass. It gets no light there at all. Should I try to move it, or just let it sit there and see if it moves on its own?

Let it move on its own, it eventually will find a spot and stay there for awhile.

The nem is still in between my overflow box and the side of the tank. Its foot it actually attached to the back wall of the tank. My only concern is that it really gets no light there at all, but yet it is staying there. The last two days it has deflated for a couple hours, and then come back out. Is this normal or is it due to the location? Should I still leave it be, or should I try moving it to a better spot?

Just leave it alone. Let it go where it wants to. They like what they like. Normally a smallerish flow spot and a good ditch in the rock for their foot. As they become accustomed to better light they will move again. But IME will find a good spot and extend their tentacles into the light as they need. And could very well be on the back of the rock.

I got another recently and is doing the same thing. Mostly moving to a decent flow spot. But gentle flow.

My fish store had no direct lighting on it. Sometimes typical at some places. All the pendants were on the high dollar corals... So expect some time.

They deflate and blow back up normally to salinity changes etc. But sometimes to purge themselves. Sometimes once a day. Especially when new to the area.
