Greetings Everyone
It is a sad day, but I am getting out of the hobby for the foreseeable future. I am selling my tank with livestock and all of my gear.
The tank is a 25 gallon CPR LT3 that I have modified in several ways. First, I increased the size of the overflow and added a second pump to increase circulation. It now uses 2 Maxi-Jet 1200 powerheads (both mounted out of sight behind the overflow) for circulation. Second, I added a bulkhead with a spigot in the overflow section to enable very easy, mess-free water changes. Third, I upgraded ballasts and installed 2 96W quad PC lamps for a total of 192W of lighting. I also added a cooling fan to the hood to help maintain the tank temperature.
The tank doesn’t have too much for livestock. One Ocellaris Clown, one hermit, a few nocturnal snails, a fighting conch, and a cleaner shrimp. The tank is overrun with Xenia and Halimeda, which I harvest regularly for nutrient export. Otherwise, it has long since been rid of any nuisance creatures or algae. Lots of live rock and a deep sand bed. I have been running skimmerless for several years and the sand and rock is loaded with microfauna.
The stand is actually an Ethan-Allen printer stand. It works great! I mounted a large power strip under the stand that everything plugs into. Also under the stand is a large, battery back-up UPS system that the pumps and heater are plugged into. This will keep water circulating in the tank for a day or more if the power dies.
The system has a very neat and clean look with a minimal footprint. Only one electrical outlet is needed (for the large powerstrip). No cords, wires, tubes or cables are visible from the front. All of the pumps and heater are behind the overflow, and thus not visible in the main tank.
Here’s a list of most of the gear that is included.
Tank:
25 gallon CPR LT3 modified for high flow
Two Maxijet 1200 powerheads
Submersible heater plugged into a secondary temperature control unit
Built-in (but removeable) CPR Bak-Pak skimmer (note: I have not used the skimmer for a couple of years)
2X 96W quad bulbs for a total of 192W of lighting
UPS battery back-up in the stand to keep pumps running when the power dies
Stand:
Ethan-Allen solid wood “printer stand” (hey, it works great!)
Refractometer
2 Marineland 1800 submersible pumps, new
5 gallon bucket of Crystalseas Marine Bioassay salt
2 3.65l containers of Black Diamond carbon
800g container of Kent Turbo Calcium
300g container of Reef Advantage Magnesium
Test Kits:
Salifert Calcium
Salifert Magnesium
Lamotte Calcium Hardness
Lamotte Alkalinity
Lamotte Nitrate
Lamotte Phosphate
Hach Total Calcium
Lots of miscellaneous food, pumps and parts accumulated over the years.
I want to sell everything at once, so no a la carte offers please. Honestly, I don't know what this is worth, so make me an offer. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Cheers,
Quinn
