GFI for Lighting

I have been reading many threads about MH lighting tripping the GFI's. Is it worth it to put the lights on the GFI's and risk popping the GFI while your away. I have external ballasts and my lights are enclosed. I am thinking about putting my lights on a non GFI circuit and everything else on GFI's. If by accident the lights fell in the tank, the gfi on everything else, pumps and heaters should trip - I think.

Any thoughts?

sounds like you would need a commercial grade gfi for the halides or higher load capacity.

I have had my MH on GFI's for over a year and I have never had them fail on me . To me it was not worth the risk.

There's 2 types of GFI's. Personal protection, and equiptment protection. Equiptment protection has a much less "nussance" (sp?) tripping odds. Equiptment trips at (I think) 30 MA vs. 4MA.
