Are you running these to fix problems or just more standard practice like carbon?

Good to have regardless? Keep water pristine? Just an extra expense?

I've been running GFO in a TLF 150 Reactor for a few years. I started having more algae issues so I added 500 ml of EcoBAK to a 2nd TLF 150 Reactor. It's been about 4 months with the EcoBAK. My PO4 and NO3 levels were testing low, but definitely there.

Now they both test 0. There is minor algae compared to the massive algae I had before. I believe the EcoBAK is more likely to keep the levels in check, while GFO will lower the PO4 levels. I was only using small amounts of GFO and only changing it every few months. After I started to change it weekly to bi-weekly, I noticed the biggest drop off in algae.

I just started to use my regenerated GFO, so hopefully it will work and save me some $. But only time will tell.
