Does anybody know if GFO will work in hang on tank filter if I put it in a media bag.. Currently .20 on phosphates.. Was using a reactor but it seemed to drop to fast.... Any help or advice greatly appreciated... Thanks Jason!

From what I understand, yes, but it will harden together. It works better tumbled.

I put Seachem phosgaurd in the filter and it seems to keep it stable but higher than it needs to be.....

your best bet is to buy the Two Little Fishes reactor. you can hang it on the size of the tank.

I used PhosBan for years in a bag. It does work.

GFO will work in a bag, especially in a small tank. Just less efficiently then in a reactor. Since water may channel in a mesh hatband it will be more prone to trapping detritus than a reactor with foam sponges, I suggest lifting it and rinsing it with RODI water and moving the m dis around gently without pulverizing if. This will help with efficiency & make it last longer.

BTW, .20 ppm phosphates is an ENORMOUSly high reading if accurate. Was that a typo? If accurate you have some fundamental issues to look into first.

.20 is correct.. If you think that's high, I received this tank established from a friend and it was 1.3!! Went got a clean up crew and a reactor... To bring it down.... I'm having trouble keeping it at .03... It's a 46 gallon with 20lbs of live rock... All the coral look healthy but noticed algae growing again..
