Giant Hawkfish

I have always said if the opportunity presents itself I would get a giant hawkfish. Well LA has a 1 inch one for sale now. The problem is I don't think the fish I have in my tank will make it.I have a vlminngii tang, maroon clown, yellow tang, bicolor angel, coral beauty, flame angel, annularis angel and a magnificence foxface. Ho soon would I have to sell my fish if I decide to get it? What are some good tank mates for this fish?My tank is 430 gallons. I do have a orange spotted rabbitfish and a porcupine puffer in my QT. I do have a 75 gallon I could put some of the fish in.

What I mean by make it is I think they would eventually end up as food for the hawkfish. Does anybody have any info on them? Such as, How fast do they grow? etc etc

I dont know about that. All of your fish listed can attain a decent size and they all have some sort of natural protection from predation (ie. gill spines, venomous, Tail Spine).

In a 430 gallon tank, you should have no issues. Get him, he sure is a cutie!! Plus I would love to see pictures of the little fella growin' up.

At some point and time won't the dwarf angel be trouble? How fast do they grow?I have seen video of a giant hawfish attacking a titian trigger.

I would think that the dwarf angel would be a good meal at some point and time. I think I'm going to order if he is still there.

These fish are extremely aggressive when they get large and will most definately do some damage to fish they don't like... and will eat fish that they can eat small fish like your dwarf angel.

Very tough fish
As soon as it can it will agress your less agressive fish
I keep mine with a few triggers and he always eats first ,in fact my other fish have a tough time getting any food the hawk is fast and eats like a pig

You should make a vid of it and put it on youtube. I havent seen anyone that has one. Only ones ive seen are in pics :(

HOLY CRAP! That thing scared me when it came out LOL I was expecting it to be the size of the trigger. How long is it? And do the more aggressive fish bother the angel? Love the tank, id love to have a similar 300g someday. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. The hawk is about 11 inch .The passer anglefish is a tough fish and can hang in this tank .I wouldn't be comfortable with any other angle though.Unfortunatley my fuscus ripped an antenna off the dragon eel and it died a few days ago. Also the garibaldi was eaten by the giant hawkfish. That was the only fish on fish violence I've experianced so far. They are all well behaved except durring feeding .I'll post a new feeding video soon.

Also The Hawkfish grows very fast .

Very cool tank (a bit jealous actually :) )! That hawkfish makes your clown trigger look absolutely tiny. Is the all yellow fish some type of damsel? Also, which fish is the fuscus?
