Giant Shroom

So I just wanted to show you guys what can happen when you buy a small mushroom. This guy when I bought him back in early 06 (?) was a couple of inches across and he lived in my nano cube. I move him to my 210 around Feb 06 and now he is as big as a regular dinner plate! I looked for a classification, but I found only Metallic green rhodactis, unclassified.

I had some of those a few years back now, they were gorgeous, didnt have them that long to get as big as yours, but they were big...I had like 5 on a piece of rock....

I have one like that and its pretty much too big for my 55g thats only 12" wide.. really hard to fit something so big into there.

Im surprised it hasn't split yet.

Their name is a little weird its Rhodactis indosinensis I think

He closes to slow to eat anything but a half dead fish anyway. Every few months I feed it a big hunk of prawn. It gets bigger overnight so I don't do it much. Mine has shown no signs of splitting. It is not the thin elephant ear type. It is very thick and fleshy. I checked Rhodactis indosinensis and that isn't it either. Here is the closest I found. This is listed as simply "green metallic mushroom from Indonesia is an undescribed Rhodactis sp."

I have the exact same shroom...only much smaller, the biggest he gets is about 3" across. I haven't fed him anything yet, just let him filter feed...if I feed him some jumbo brine shrimp would he grow faster?

Yes, he would grow faster if you feed him meat.
