Giesemann Matrix II Dimtec

So along with a new tank build comes opportunity to get new toys :)

This time ive gone with a all T5 unit, the Giesemann Matrix II Dimtec 8x80w in Polar white. Opening the box shows an amazing looking light that oozes quality in the build. First thing you notice is how sleek the unit it, its very thin and narrow...being only 45cm wide (about 35cm from globe to globe) so will see how it performs over my 75cm wide tank.

Until my 80w globes arrive I can only look at the light, cant wait to get it fired up!

Knowing the quality of your builds Rodney your tank will look stunning as always :eek1::D

Yup I had the ATI Hybrid on my old tank, I needed a new light due to the size of the new tank so decided to go with the Giesemann. Love the look of it, its very sleek and this time round I wanted my tank to be a complete show piece including all fixtures etc..same reason I hung the light from ceiling brackets.

Other thing, I was only really using the LED at dusk/dawn to give that effect...during the day they were right down. So that wasnt too much of a factor for me.

I dont think you could go wrong with either light.
- Programming is very similar on both
- Giesemann can turn on 2 sets of tubes at at time for all banks, ATI is a 2/6 split so less flexible
- Build quality is great on both as you'd expect (I think giesemann is a bit ahead here)
- I do like the thinner wire at the back of the giesemann over the thick cable out the end of the ATI...but we are getting picky now
- Also no big power box for the giesemann to house in the cabinet
- Both stupidly expensive

I think you forgot that on the ATI everytime u wanted to make changes u had to get a cord out and connect to the box . The Geisemann has bluetooth ,so that should make life easier .
So how big is the power/ballast box for the Dimtec ? Care to take a pic ?
Agreed on the $$$..aspect . Can u shut down, dim 2 bulbs etc at a time or bring them back several times a day ?

There is no power box for the Giesemann, its all inside the light itself.

Yup you can control 2 tubes at a time and turn them on/off, dim etc as many times a day as needed.

The fans are automatic, they are very quiet aswell. Tank is getting wet very soon so should have some real life thoughts on the light in a few weeks

T5 Tubes

T5 Tubes

Hi,

I am switching from GHL Mitras LED to the same T5 fixture, but I have no idea what tubes to choose, as I am totally newbie on T5. Would you share your decision on tube choice?
