Well, after about 3.5 years in the hobby, it's about time for me to upgrade.
During the past years I learned a lot, got a lot of experience in the saltwater hobby and I think that I can build a new tank which is going to be much better.
In the next month, during May I'm about to move to my new house and I'm going to implement many things I've learned during the years.
Right now I have a 450 litters (110 Gal) tank, mostly SPS and Zoanthids.
I know the combination is not always working together but I really like these families of corals. I've already seen few tanks with this mixture going on pretty well, and I did pretty well in my old tank as well.
Here is picture of the current tank:
When I saw the house plans, the first thing I was wondering about is were the tank is going to be placed.
I got the Google Sketchup model for the house from a friend who bought a house in the same project I have, I changed it a bit, moved away the TV spot (well, it was unacceptable by my wife to move it all a way). I found a great location, including a back room that fits the tank maintenance and equipment.
The tank size is 160cm long, 90 width and 80 high. ~320 Gallons.
The overflow is 80cm long, going to be located at the back of the tank with 2 drains. 1 is for water down and the second is for backup in case of a flooding.
The lights I plan to use is going be 6xT12 160W bulbs by UV Lighting Company.
More details on the other stuff will be soon.
Here is an illustration of the house's first level
While under construction
After breaking the wall
Will continue with updates very soon.
Best,
Gil.
