Glass bowing...

I have a 72x24x30 glass tank and I'm wondering what the norm is for bowing when its filled... It has no center support. When filled it is bowing about 1/8" at 30 1/8" when measured with water and 30" no water...

its the pressure causing it to bow.Plus no center brace but it looks like its euro braced. My other tank (150)did the same thing and I never had a problem.I can't tell you how much it bowed. If you bought the tank used and are a littled worried you may want to fill it in the garage and leave it.Make sure the tank is level this will add less stress to the tank.

Yeah, bought it used. I was just wondering what the normal amount of bowing was for a large tank. I know they all bow a little...

did you level the tank when you filled it? thats not bad for 72" though. ive seen 36" tanks with at least that much bow. they had no center brace either, (removed for MH) but you have the side/euro bracing & that helps alot. 1/8" you should be ok if your level.
JDM...:smokin: :p

Yep, leveled it last night..It may have been a hair less than an 1/8". I didn't think that was much, but this is my first large tank and wanted to make sure..

My tank is 96x48x30 and there is no bowing and all I have is euro-bracing, but it's also 3/4" low iron glass...

the thicknes does help along with the eurobracing.Your eurobracing might be thinner than asnatlas aswell. My tank did bow even with the middle brace. It depends on the builder. My friend works for Hagen. His tanks were alot more expensive than the perfecto but they used a much thicker glass.
