goby/pistol shrimp

I wanted to add a goby/pistol shrimp to my tank? What are the most compatable goby/pistol shrimp. Would the pistol bother any of my other livestock? (Cleaner shrimp, black urchin, snails, hermits, no fish!!!)

Also I have a 2" sand bed of arag-alive, which is 1-2mm in diameter. Is this sand fine enough for the goby. Should I add more sand?

I believe Wheeler's Prawn Gobies to be a good choice in this and they also are good looking. White body with red vertical bands down the length of the body. You may be able to get a pair to take with the single shrimp. Helpful getting 2 of this species that are already tankmates so you need not worry about same species aggression just the joining of them to the shrimp. Second choice and easy to get is a yellow watchman.

I cant say the success rates for it. I have not yet found info on if it is better to have the gobies or the shrimp established first, or to add them at same time. Any useful info on this would be great.

I am planning to add both of the above gobies with pistol shrimp once I am established in a few weeks to a month. I am basing much of this upon information I have read from John Tullock's- Natural Reef Aquariums and other sources.

No. I have 2 cleaners in my tank with the pistol. The pistol stays in or near its tunnel most of the time. I hardly ever see it.
