I am going on a cruise in July and was wondering where the good areas around where I will be are to snorkel ect. The itinerary is as follows:

Port Canaveral, Florida; Cococay, Bahamas; Nassau, Bahamas; Port Canaveral, Florida

Any input would be great!

Sry 2 hijack.. but I'm going on a cruise as well and am wondering the same thing.. I'll be at Freeport Bahamas, Grand Caymen & Costa Maya, Mexico.

I cant wait :D

When in Grand Cayman, look up Keith and Casey with Neptune Divers, they operate a small operation off of the public beach, (8 divers max), it is accessible via taxi from the cruise ship dock. You can do a 2 tank resort course starting at 9 am and done by lunch. Ask to dive "The Aqurium". Tell them the guys from Dog n Suds sent you and remember to pay cash, if you use a card, you pay sales tax...You'll love it.

We just got back from the Bahamas, and snorkled at Stuart Cove's on Paradise Island. It was great. They did 3 stops, the first two were over reefs, and the last was snorkling with sharks. The sharks were reef sharks and nurse sharks, so it was safe, but if you are going with kids, they love it. Admittedly, I have not snorkled very often, but I loved it.

If you have a chance to check out Atlantis, do it. It was unbelievable. They have a huge (I was told it was the largest open air aquarium in the world-12,000,000 gallons) and it was incredible. They only had one small reef aquarium, but tons of tanks, pools and lagoons full of fish, sharks, etc.

Paradise Island is right next to Nassau, and is about a half hour cab ride.

Have fun and let me know how you like Atlantis if you go.
