Going to Belize

So, this weekend I will be setting off to Belize for five days. Should be an amazing trip, but I always get really worried about leaving my tanks. I have a friend that will be coming over twice each day and my roomate will be home, but this is just for feeding and making sure everything is still okay, like pumps are running, lights coming on/not blowing up, etc. If there is any real problem, I don't know what they will be able to do or if he'll even be able to reach me down there.

So I was wondering if anyone is in the UCF area that would know enough about a problem that if there was one, my friend could call you to help him out with an issue that could arise. If so, please pm me. I will gladly pay or frag for you if any problem surfaces that my friend calls you about. I just worry and like to take extra precaution.

So it is Friday through Tuesday Aug 18-22. If you are home and around the UCF area, please pm me with contact info so my friend can get in touch. I would really appreciate any help someone(or two) could give. Remember, this is not for daily maintenance or for feedings, I have these covered already. This is just in case of emergency my friend cannot handle. Thank you so much in advance for anything you can help me out with.

hey craig, i live in chuluota and work at siemens right down the road from you. I can help out . So just let me know.

You lucky stiff!!!!:eek2: WOW..have a wonderful trip!:beachbum: If he/she needs troubleshooting or whatever..you can depend on me.

Thanks, guys. If you could just pm me your phone numbers so that I can give to my friend, I would greatly appreciate it. James is a really good guy and is very intelligent. I don't see him getting into any troubles, but it's always good to have people with specified experience that could be there in a pinch. I will give you guys a frag of nice zoos, even if he doesn't need your help, just for the offer. I really appreciate the response. Thank you very much.

Gonna be SCUBA diving the Barrier reef and three of the four Atlantic atolls. Don't know how much I'll be able to dive, but I'd like to get a day at each...maybe, but I see more like two days of dives. I'll be staying 1.5 miles off the barrier reef itself, so that will be a definite. I do want to find some unprotected waters on my last day to see if there are any zoos, shrimps, rics, or leathers I'm interested in. CITES is pretty lenient on softies and the only foreseeable problem will be liquid on a plane. Hopefully since fish and corals are more sensitive to conditions than we are, they will understand that it is legit.

Give him my number at the store and the website. One of us is always checking the forum so that could be a backup. Have fun! I doubt you'll get on any plane right now with fluids...they're even banning meds right now. I'd check when you first get to the airport as they are banning just about everything. GL!!!!!

I don't know how stringent Belize will be with the liquid thing. Maybe worse than I am assuming. I will call them prior to bringing them, though.

Don't have an underwater case for my camera, so no macro mode pics, but I will buy a couple of the disposable underwater ones to get some decent shots.

Many of the dive shops will rent underwater cameras- not usually too expensive. And a great way of making everyone jealous once you get back. ;)

Have a great time.

Craig, can't you just box the stuff with an ice pack or two and check it in with your luggage? Or maybe overnight ship it to your home?

Not sure how packing for shipment to myself would work out, as the issue with customs still arises. I'll check into it when I am down there.
