Gold-barred maroon pair w/ red-tipped BTA, corals

musty baby

New member
I have a pair of gold-barred maroons that I picked up many moons ago from someone else on this message board, both are in great health and measure ~ 3 inches for the female and maybe a shade under 2 for the male. They are currently hosting in a red-tipped green BTA, about 8 inches diameter when fully opened. I've had it for several months and it has never stung a thing despite coming into contact with sps, lps, zoanthids, and mushrooms. It hasn't moved much since being put in the tank, but I have wide-open rockwork and it is currently behind a rock staring up at the lights, keeping it and the maroons out of sight most of the time. This has killed its appeal in my tank. $50 will take the trio or I'll entertain trades for corals or large live/dead rocks.

While I'm at it, I have a very thick-branched yellow digitata colony (3.5 inches) ($15), a plethora of purple digitata frags (dirt cheap), teal centered caulastrea frags with white-barred edges ($3 a head, heads about 1.5" diameter), green-centered and other mild zoanthids, and a 7" neon (VERY bright with actinics) green hynophora plate ($25?). If anyone is interested just say so.

I took pics and will post them (of everything). Glaspie, how bout a 4 head frag? And got2lb if you decide you want any after the pictures how about another 4 heads? I don't have THAT many heads so don't want to trim it down too far. Will work on posting the photos tonight or tomorrow.

Be forewarned, regarding the pics:

Yes, I'm aware that my tank is 100% chock full of algae. I enjoy its fuzzy, bubbly goodness. I'm working on it.

I ran photoshop autolevels, and nothing else, on the photos because 1) my camera really, really sucks and 2) I decided to try out the cheap ebay metal halide bulbs. I had heard good things about them on this site, thought I'd give them a shot. The 14ks I bought are 5x yellower than the 6500k pcs I have on my refugium. None of the photos are misleading though, I don't mean to deceive. I don't need any [more] people complaining about how horrible a person I am to deal with :)

I also have a couple brown leather frags, about 2"

I'll post the mushrooms I still have tomorrow

Well, somebody decided that I shouldn't be holding the maroons for them, after seeing if I'd come down on the price they'd already agreed to, so they are once again available.

Hey, I'm sorry.

I was talking with another member and my water quality
will not be ready yet for the anemone.

I would love to have them but, I dont want to kill anything.
I hoped there were no hard feelings

Im sure you wont have a hard time selling them.

Sorry ryansholl
I was that member. He is just setting up the tank and it's his first saltwater setup so I didn't think it would be a good idea.
Just looking out for the critters, I know if I were selling them I'd want them to go to a established tank that was ready for them.

No worries guys. I didn't know it was a new tank, and yes it's a good idea not to try the anemone in the new tank. All I knew of it was "I'd like dibs" -> "whats your bottom dollar?" -> "can't swing them" so hopefully you understand why i thought what I did.

With that out of the way, I think I'm going to move this thread to the for sale forum and see if anyone bites. I don't generally have good experiences trading/selling/giving away in-state anyway (if memory serves me correctly I'm about 3 for 11 for people ever showing up for stuff they call dibs on - I actually have chaeto that I picked up for someone on this board thirteen (13!) months ago). Regardless though, I always figure I should see if anyone is interested and would rather interact with someone from around here. So, if anyone is still interested in any of this stuff it will be residing elsewhere on the site.

Atticus - I'll let you know, but I don't think they'll be going anywhere for a while!

I can see why. Wish we could get some half that nice around here.

Actually that one on the left was from Iowa Pet Foods and Seascapes or whatever the Hooters store is called. I picked up a lot of stuff one day when they were making room for a phantom shipment of new stock, they had a great sale (50% off?!) but never really restocked.

As a matter of fact, the candy cane above was a 4-headed $10 brink-of-death purchase that same day. I love deals.
