Golden Angelfish

I Have a Golden angelfish that for the last two months has been eating everything i feed him, spirulina, mysis, a paste that i make up with about 9 different foods including an angelfish diet. He usually goes after the food like he hasnt eaten in days, I feed him twice a day. Yesterday he stopped eating what i feed him. He is eating off of the live rock now. The only thing different since yesterday is that i added a small firefish in the tank with him. I dont think that would stop him from eating since he lives with a pair of clowns and was eating no problem with them. I am open for all suggestions.

Goldens are very reclusive and shy. They know every inch of their territory. The reason they are so expensive is they are almost impossible to see in the wild. They see a diver coming a mile away and are gone! You changed something by adding the fire fish. It could be he is just checking out the new tank mate. Give it a few days before you panick. My guess, he will be fine a day or so.

That's true, any change in anything really affects the Golden's behavior.

Mine is very rarely relaxed, even when it had it's own tank it was still darting from rock to rock trying to remain hidden.

Surprisingly became more bold when it was put in a larger tank with other dwarf angels.

Thanks for the responses, I will just give him time, he used to eat like he was starving twice a day.

Did your golden go through prazi? I had a juv emperor and a pair of true Hawaii flame angels in QT for for about 2 months in hypo that was just about to come out of hypo for another month of observation before going into a DT. Then all of a sudden I found the female flame dead one morning and the emp and male flame stopped eating. The only thing I didn't treat was internal parasites so I went immediate treatment of prazi over 2 days on the recommended dosage and by the 4th day the emp started nipping a bit and now on the 2nd round she started to look more eager to eat.

This may not be your case but just a thought to watch out for. Mine were all eating very well from frozen to flakes & pellets before stopped eating.

Yes he had gone through two rounds of prazi. He ate the whole time in QT like crazy and in his DT up until yesterday.
