golden dwarf moray

I love the golden dwarf moray (Gymnothorax melatremus). I was thinking about getting one. But, will it eat my small fish? I have some smithvanizi anthias and a liopropoma rubre. Will it bother any of the bigger fish? Is it too much of a risk, or will it be harmless when I feed it enough?

The basslet will more than likely be eaten, anthias should be safe. If you feed the eel enough they may be safe but do not be upset if they vanish overnight.

I've had one for years in the same tank (110 gallon) as a swalesi and a plectranthias sp.. No problems at all. Great eel for a reef.

So is it generally agressive, or is it shy? The anthias are just a little bit bigger than 1inch now but they will grow to 3inch.

i have had no problems with mine. i even had a small leopard wrasse give him a couple of head butts and it was feeding time. if he was ever going to take one, that was it..he did try and get a hermit crab out of his shell when i let feeding days stretch a bit too long..great fish

I definitely would not call it aggressive and I think secretive is a better word than shy. It comes out when it's looking for food, otherwise it has one or two cave-like areas that it hangs in. It's a very cool animal and I've never had any issues with it. I also have a number of cleaner shrimp that it completely ignores.
