Golden Dwarf or Chainlink Moray

Right now we have a 55 gallon tank... due to having a baby blue tang, we have a 2-3 year window of getting a larger tank. Probably in the 250-300 gal. range.

In the meantime I want to add a moray to the tank. Choices are either a baby Chainlink, or Golden Dwarf.

Was against the Chainlink due to it's size, but if I buy a very small chainlink, how large will it be in 2-3 years? If in a year it'll be pushing the limits of the 55 gal, then I'll just go with the Golden Dwarf. BTW: Will be the last addition to this tank.

Tank: 55gal glass, led lighting, Eheim 2075, Remora Aqua C w/ Eheim compact 1000, additional powerhead for flow, 60lb live sand, 80lb live rock.

Fish: Blue Hippo Tang, Dwarf Flame Angel, Percula Clown, skunk shrimp, 2 peppermint shrimp, 2 hermits

I think GD are really nice looking. Only wish they were available near me.

Found a guy in Hawaii who catches them and ships them via Delta Cargo, just pick up at the airport... so price / availability isn't too much of an issue.

Was thinking if I got the GD, I'd probably add the Chainlink when the larger tank is running either way lol... wanted a more aggressive eel in the larger tank at first, but am shying away form that now...

if price were not an issue. i would ge the golden dwarf. if price were an issue i would get the chain(their is one at my LFS for 50.00). i just like eel no matter what one. i would be happy with either. i think the golden would be more awe inspiring because of the rarity.

Sort of what I've been thinking... wanted to add in a larger eel to the bigger tank down the line... but really don't want to wake up to a bunch of bones in the morning one day. Don't really like the Zebra, which kind of leaves me with a chainlink or snowflake :sad2:

Chainlinks and snowflakes will eat the fish as well if that is one of your concerns. Any of the eels you mentioned will be fine in a 55 either way.
