Goldstrip maroons at LFS a pair?

I was at my LFS today and I saw 2 goldstripe maroons in the same tank. One was 4+ inches and the other was about 1.25 inches. They are being sold seperately, but it seems like they may have paired. After watching them for a while, the female swims right up to the smaller one without any agression. He doesnt look beat up either. They seem to get along well even staking out one corner of the holding tank together. The smaller seems to stay put and the Female always comes back to that corner where he is. Does this mean they've paired? I know how hard it is to pair maroons (I've tried wiht my last tank and no success). I'd like to buy them both if they have indeed paired. Any input? What do you guys think?

Ask the store how long they have been in the tank together. The longer the time the better the odds are they have paired. Just remember that fish do not always show their true "colors" in a fish store. At a LFS you can see a tank with two yellow tangs in it, when at home they would try to kill each other.

If you want a pair then I would go for it. Worst case, you may have to remove him if it gets really bad but being they are already acting the way they are is a good sign.

Yeah, I think they hook up, just because of the size difference between the fish. It's all ready establish who's in charge "the girl".
