does anyone know how quickly a goldtail angel grows "pomacanthurus chrysurus " .just curious that's all as I have a 5" one

I purchased both a Goldtail and a Majestic at the same time. Both were about 1.5 inches at the time. The Majestic was already transitioning into adult colors. My goal was to keep one of them and sell or place the other in one of the tanks I was servicing. They grew at the same speed for the year or so that I had them. Fast forward ten years and both fish seemed to have maxed out at around 10 inches. IMO they are one of the slower growing Angels.

Navarchus is the "smallest" of the large angels and they grow very slowly. Wen's broodstock is 7 and 8 inches. Among the wonderful things about them is that they are stunning as babies and transition to adults while still quite small. So, you can have a full adult at 2-2.50 inches. In the wild, an older individual might approach 10 inches, in captivity, that is extraordinarily rare. To have a Navarchus grow approx 1 inch per year over a decade is quite the feat.

Chrysurus grow bigger and quicker but mature slower. Thus, you could have a 6-7 inch juvi. These fish can grow to the size of a dinner plate with in a year or 2, and are bolder than a navarchus.
