Goniopora ?'s

Hello,
I just bought a baseball sized goniopora today. The guy at my LSF said if my other corals are all doing well (which they are, Xenia,GSP, Kenya tree and greenstripe mushroom) that the gonia should do well as long as I feed it goniapower and place it well. Its the green type and is aquacultured. They showed me the parent colony and they had several good looking frags from it. After doing some reading, I've read that they're very difficult to keep. So I'm looking for any info from anyone that's kept them, difficulty? How you care for yours?..etc.
Thank you.

The green aquacultured seem to be better. Like they said, feed it regularly. You are already doing well on some easier stuff so why not try something harder. That's the fun part of this hobby, challenging yourself and expanding your knowledge.

Every goniopora I have ever tried to keep died on me. Finally years later I tried and ORA red gonio and he is doing great. What a difference it makes

I've had good luck with goniopora over the last year. I have a red and green one and both are expanding. I don't feed them and the tank is a basic HOB filter system. I have read they like a more nutrient rich environment.

Think the key is getting a healthy one. Plus if they are wild they come from a very different environments. Some are swallow lagoons while others deepest reefs. So getting one that is used to aquariums conditions is always easier

Good luck, I hope a tank propagated one would do better than what I've heard about most that are wild collected.

Not sure what type I have exactly but I have both a red and a green for about 8 months now since I started the tank. Always puffed up and happy. I did notice that they can handle alot of blue intensity but white spectrum they suck in and not really poofy not to mention the end pylops change shape. I keep my whites 40% to my blues of course this is if your running LED.
