I have one of the above, I'm a little unclear as to which one it is but its def a Gonodactylus. Its about 3-4 inches long and is very healthy. I just dont have time anymore for all my tanks and am concentrating on my main reef system from now on. Free to a good home, pick up only. I'm based in Hollywood.

Thanks

post a pic mr. photographer! :) then we can tell you what it is. smithii vs. chiragra is a pretty significant difference.

He is so elusive, I have sat for hours waiting to get a pic, he is very camera shy. 95 % sure its a purple spotted badboy...

Ok so if you peeps are still interested its a Chiragra, fo sho! Will post a pic in a bit.

Ok, I just checked again, I am no expert but it lacks the orange meral spot and instead its white, like a Cheragra. I should have just called this Thread the Brightly colored mantis for free thread. It might be a juvi in which case its lacking the Orange spot. Red intersegmental lines also occur on G.Smithii but the Meral spot is def white.

It looks orange from the small bit you can see at the top. Pale orange maybe, but orange (unless its a trick of the light) Not a smithii obviously because of the lack of the red spots near the telson.

*shrug* about the meral spot, but the rest of the mantis, the red intersegmental lines, mottled rapts, lack of pink bumps at the base of the uropod, blue antennal scales tells me G. ternatensis as well. a pretty one at that.
