i have a standard size 90, 48x24x18, im considering taking most of the corals and high light requiring ones and turning my 29biocube into a reef tank. And turning my 90 into mainly fish only (and a few low light requiring corals) But my question is, what is a good led type light that would be good for my 90...Just want to get something cheap that lights the tank up with the blue/white colors (if its adjustable thats great but not really needed) was thinking maybe 2 AI Primes again. they arent too expensive and love the controlibility

In general... fish don't need light..
Seems goofy IMO to put hundreds of dollars of LEDs for fish..
1 "Chinese Black Box" is plenty IMO and only sets you back $90 or so..

do you know if those are controllable like the AI's? or would i have to turn the dial to make them change settings/colors manually? I like having the lights on an auto timer so i dont have to manually turn it on/off/etc

definitely cant beat the price though

You can use a timer to turn them on/off, it has 1 plug for white, and 1 for blue so you can time them individually. You can't dim them with a controller though, that is manual

Most of the Chinese Black box lights have "dials" to adjust the Blue and White channels.

I run a Mars Aqua over my QT and just have it on a timer (think Christmas tree timer). The light doesn't ramp up and down but thats no biggie.

If you go up in price you can go with Reefbreeders that have built in timer and ramp up / down capability.

yeah ive used those christmas light timers before on my old setup that i had roughly 10 years ago, lol. After having tanks with AI Primes and hydras...well i got spoiled on the rampability and everything else they contain...just not a fan of the price point....only because it wont really be a reef tank anymore, just fish...and maybe a zoa colony here or there or something. Im leaning toward 2 of those chinease box lights for 165 total...kinda hard to beat that lol
