I just got a used 110. It holds water and does not appear to leak. While I work on convincing myself that putting 1300+ lbs in a second floor apartment is a good idea I was thinking of doing a little work on the tank.
I want to remove the silicon inside the tank. Not the part in-between the glass (i.e. the seam) just the part inside. I would like to cut it out with a razor blade and replace it with new. I know the silicon won't stick to the old stuff but it will adhere to the glass.
The current silicon is coming away from the glass so I wouldn't think it would be any worse to remove it and cover the seams with new than it would to leave the old stuff there. In fact I hope it will be better because it will put a better seal over the seam, whereas the old could actually make it easier for the water to get at the seam by not being attached to the glass.
Anyone have any ideas or opinions?
