I went to the links on the thread,How to Help us Help you Identify Algae , very nice!
I believe I have identified 3 types of algae in my system that I have questions about. Basicaly I want to know, of each type, good, bad or indifferent, if bad what can I introduce to take care of it?

Lobophora brown wafer-------- lots of this
Halimeda -------- not to much and attractive
Botryocladia Pseudodichotoma--------- only in the fuge

Thanks
Ed

Good or bad depends on how you look at algae.

The lobophora and halimeda will place some demand on calcium and alkalinity. Lobophora is sometimes considered a nuisance, and get grow uncontrollably with very few natural controls available for your tank. Naso tang has been reported to eat it but gets too large for most tanks. Halimeda is gnerally considered a good macro, but some do see it as a nuisance.

The B. Pseudo aka. red bubble algae can be considered invasive not a very common one so I dont have to much knowledge of it. I do have it growing in my fuge and it has spread some but so far hasnt gone beyond the fuge so I dont have experience with controls yet, but many reds are quite paletable to herbivores.
