Good prices of Salifert

I order mine online..... it is always cheaper and kits are newer as far as age of reagents.

Sometimes the local kits are old and have been in storage a while. This tends to botch the results of the test kit.
I think online vendors move more kits and thus have fresher reagents due to pushing volume.

CRF has great prices on their salifert kits, but call Jeff before or on Thursday because that's when he orders his drygoods in. You'll get the freshest kits from the distributor

I'd stay away from Salifert

I'd stay away from Salifert

Salifert has had an issue with the ALk kits recently. I switched over to ELOS, and they both test the same way..

There have been alot of problems with Salifert and the reliability of the test results lately, one of the biggest are with Alk tests and others. There is no customer service and even the Salifert forum by "Habib" on Reef Central has not been responded to in over 6 weeks even though there are alot of reefers very unhappy with their test kits.

I would think twice about buying Salifert. I am using API and I'm happy with it. Alot of reefers are having to double check their tests because of the unreliability of them. I'm not taking the chance. I'd rather buy from a company that you can contact here in the United States and that has a website, unlike Salifert that is located in Holland and no contact info on their website.

Dr. foster: If they could only keep them in stock.

Salifert Calcium Profi Test Kit $22.99
Salifert Carbonate Hardness/Alkalinity Test Kit $13.99
Salifert pH Test Kit $11.99

Salifert Ammonia Test Kit $17.99
Salifert Nitrite Test Kit $14.99
Salifert Nitrate Test Kit $17.99
Salifert Phosphate Test Kit $17.99

I respect your opinion, but IMO I would not change Salifert for API in my wildest dreams. Sure Salifert had a QC problem but it is clear from Habibs response that he acknowledge the issue and he is working on a repair, I am not sure what else would you like to hear but I am satisfy with that.
I have use API test kits and what turned me away from them was that each time I tested the same water I will get a different result, they are very inaccurate specially when it comes to low range test kits.
Bottom line Salifert has done me good and I am not going to change them because they had an issue, or because their name does not starts with "American" that is just wrong.

If you read the Salifert forum, you will see that Habib is NOT working on a repair. He acknowledged there was a problem several months ago but no one has heard from him since the beginning of October! He is not responding to any posts, his PM box is full, and there is no other way to get a response from Salifert. In my estimation, that is very poor customer service especially since there are alot of customers that are dissatisfied with their test results.

For the price of a Salifert test kit, you should expect more than that. I purchased a Salifert Magnesium kit (since API doesn't make one for Mg) and it came in a Copper kit box with a skimpy white Magnesium sticker on it. (I ordered it online, otherwise I would never would have purchased it in a store because it looked so unprofessional esp. for the price). Just looking at the box, I was very skeptical about using it. I just think that for the price of these kits that a company that so many people respected in the past would handle their packaging with more professionalism.

I like a company, whether American or not, that at least has a contact available. Salifert does not.
