Got a Crocea

Finally decided to get a clam after having my tank established for about a year and a half. My friend has one in his 24 nano and says they suck up calcium. I drip about a teaspoon of kalk in a gallon of fresh twice a week, actually up until a month ago and my calcium is 400 as of today. What calcium level should I strive for, the clams looks healthy and was open all day today, but might have to change koralia position due to a lot of flow directly hitting it.

You don't want alot of flow on the clam, if it's mantle is curled up unnaturally then you need to move something. I keep my cal at about 450ppm, I wouldn't worry too much if it is 400ppm. You also need to check your mag and alk. Alalinity is the most important one of all three.

btw whats the deal, a post about a new clam and no pic's to go along with it. LOL whats up with that, we wanna see pic's.:D

keeping your calcium is hard when i added that 9' squamosa mine droped to 350 and i cant get it to go back up. I do 1 teaspoon of kalk in a half gallon and i go throw that in about a day. and poor liquid calcium in on top of it. The Little snots east it up. Have fun with your new clam what ever you get you will be hocked.
