Do you know where the rock originated? Meaning, I see youre in FL, so was it Florida aquacultured rock, or Pacific? If its Pacific, and ID will be really difficult- it could be too many things. If Caribbean/Atlantic, that would at least help narrow things down. Cool find though.

I have one of those also except mine is bright green. I have seen them before in different colors, the LFS near me gets them as hitchhikers on live rock. I forget what they are called but the LFS says they are not allowed to sell them. I have seen them IDed on a hitchhiker id web page, I just can't remember what the address is.

It looks like a Rose Brain Coral, which can be common hitchhikers on quality Florida Live Rock.

It is illegal to collect the Rose Brains unless they are attached to and grown on cultured live rock. They are one of the corals Project DIBS is trying to work with on sexual reproduction and propagation.

In my experience, they are pretty hardy and can tolerate low light levels better than high light, moderate water flow helps to keep ditritus off of them, otherwise, very similar care requirments to Favia or Favites.

OK. Its some kind of Faviid; cant really tell beyond that though. Sorry.

I got a bright green one on rubble also. the "polyps" (15+) on mine are a bit smaller (it is hard to tell from the picture). I love those kind of founs treasures.
