Like the title says! I got a mini sized colony of Black Sun corals an hour ago! Got 25 heads for $15! Woot! They had big colony's, was able to talk them into fragging off a bit for me because the big colony was starting to die off. I'll post pictures in a bit.

Here are a few pictures, tell me what you think!

*EDIT* I'm going to put them in a different spot and bolt them there once I train them to open up and eat well. :D

Looks great, nice snag. As you mentioned get them eating well before glueing them down.

For future reference, even where there is recession on these guys they can be brought back pretty easily with a good amount of food.

Thanks! Yeah.

Glad to hear. :)

When I put food in the water, they got really puffy, but no tentacles are coming out yet.

The LFS that I got the black sun coral from had a lot of kick *** Non-Photosynthetic Gorgonians, I sooo wanted to get them, but I don't have any of the appropriate foods for them. :( I need to save up some money and get the foods and a few of those gorgonians. :D

Nice grab! I have a cave in my tank lined with different colored sun corals, i have black, orange and yellow, still looking for green!!

Kind of a bad picture and you cant see the black ones they are off to the left a bit. Ill look for other pics too

Thats it I can find for now

I tried to feed them yesterday while I was feeding my Orange sun corals, the black sun coral got REALLY puffy, they opened their mouths, but none to hardly any tentacles come out, wasn't able to feed them last night because they don't grab anything. Any suggestions?

Stop all the flow in your tank next time, and place the food directly on the mouths of each polyp. Do it gently so that you don't scare it into receding. If you get it to engulf the food, do it again. You might have to repeat this procedure several times for days or even weeks. Black sun corals have pretty voracious appetites IME so once you get them going it should be smooth sailing.

The flow was off when I was trying to feed it last night, guess I'll have to be more gentle and try to keep the food on top of the mouths.

Here are a few pictures that I took 10 minutes ago.

Was able to feed all of the larger polyps on the black sun coral, non of their tentacles came out, but I put a bunch of food on top of their mouths and they swallowed it up! Woot! Going to be a while till they are healthy again.

Here is an update picture of the black sun coral, took it today. It lost some tissue when my tank crashed but its making a comeback. Not all the polyps are open tho. Currently feeding it fish eggs. lol

No one likes the Black Sun coral?

I dig them! I picked up a black frag (maybe 10 heads) a few weeks ago. I had a huge orange colony but it died off when I moved from WI to ATL.

What's the deal with the green looking ones?!? I've never seen those before! Or is that just weird lighting?
