Someone sent me a link on my idea of getting a tank built. The link is

Ty is the guy I spoke with who was very professional and polite. He gave me a price on the tank I wanted built and I will add that it was alot cheaper than what glasscages had quoted me. I had spoke with Tom on the phone once and he was very short and not very helpful. Not saying anything about their tanks only that who I spoke with there was not very helpful and pretty much lost my bussiness because of it. I am not begging anyone to take my money I dont care how good your product is. If your in the market for a tank I would diffently check out the site I listed above and give them a call. I know he said he had some good deals on a 150 and a 185 he has already designed. Hope this is helpful to someone and look forward to seeing everyone next week.

yeah, i've gone to glasscages twice....once to pick up my 29 i am gonna use for a sump & once to pick up a cut piece of acrylic.

the guy that owns it is pretty much a grump of sorts, but if ya know EXACTLY what ya want, he's not too bad

but yeah, if i was wanting anything large & expensive, they wouldn't be my 1st choice, but for inexpensive tanks, they can't be beat

Glad to hear you had a nice experience with him so far. I personally haven't heard much about his products/company, but Ty is planning to come to the swap (or at least a rep from their company is) so I'm looking forward to learning more and everyone will have a chance to meet him.

I know Ty personally because I have purchased two tank from him. Ocea does a great job on tanks and stands.

That will be great to see him at the expo I hope he brings some tanks and donates one like Tom has for the last couple of years. I think it is funny when I hear people talk about Tom as I have talked to him in person several times and he was actually the opposite of what you would think he has spent a lot of time showing me and anyone that I was out with around. He is set in his ways and not the best communicator on the phone though but after you here all the things he has dealt with on the phone from people I would be short some time too.

He said that he will be donating a frag tank and stand. I'm not sure exactly what it looks like, but I'm guessing it's a short tank. I'll be interested in actually seeing it.

From what he said, it sounds like he'll be bringing a bunch of smaller tanks and tank/stand combos.

FWIW on the glasscages front, they've been a great supporter of this club (and our club a good customer for them). Tom is certainly known to have a reputation, but he has always been pleasant to me in person. I'm glad Ocea is on board for coming and that Ty contacted me. That said, Ocea is not a replacement for glasscages... just another option. No matter how you slice it, it is great to have options (and to have semi-local companies that help support us and the hobby).
