Green bubble tip

Hey everybody, on Monday I purchased a green bubble tip. I temp acclimated him in bag for about 30-45 mins, and then drip acclimated him for a little over an hour. I turned off my gyre and slowed my return pump down to level 1(jebao) , and placed him in a nice little crevice where he has not moved from and seems to be extremely happy during the day when the lights are on.

BUTTTTTT when my white (day) LEDs switch over to blues in the evening/night he starts to close up and have a very open mouth until the morning time when the lights ramp back up and then he looks as good as new...?

I am curious to know if this is normal or not. I have read through some forums and people say theirs does the same and then some people say they've had a bubble tip die within 24 hours of seeing this, but I am on day 3 and see no declining in his health.

His foot has not once let go and has been secured nice in the rock work.

Any help would be appreciated I am just a little curious. Thanks!

Without pictures and water parameters can't tell you much. Also what kind of lighting do you have and how long has your tank been setup?

This IS a normal thing that BTA's do sometimes several times a day sometimes not. They also will shrink up to almost nothing and look like they're dead! Then after they eat they will envelop themselves like a balloon LOL Welcome to the world of near heart attacks of owning your first anemone.

If your salinity is 1.024-1.025 why drip acclimate? Inverts usually need to be housed in that vicinity so temp acclimating is all that is needed. Just my 2 cents but some worry about pH and other things however I've never had an issue. Good luck

patience is key with any anemone. They take time to fully get used to a system. Give him a few weeks. If he shows signs of stress 24/7 start a medication with him.
