Green Clown Goby Question

Hey guys, Just picked up a little green clown for my 3.3 gal pico setup... he's only about 3/4 inch long, one of the coolest things about the pico tank thus far lol.

Anyway, from what I have read they like to host in sps and other hard corals... however, from anyone with experience on here know if they NEED something to host in? I just don't have any coral growing in it (yet) but I was thinking about throwing some clove polyps in there that will prob stay alive for him to hang out in, if anyone thinks that would be ok... If not i'll frag something else out of my 30g and hope is survives in the pico lol

The tank has been set up for 2 weeks, there were small damsels in the tanks sections for 6 days, and there is chaeto in the refugium sections that i added copepods to. There are also 2 snails and 2 hermits in each of the 5 sections.

ok cool. Thanks. I tossed in a birdsnest frag, hope it thrives in there. He hasn't checked it out yet, but the goby is feeding well so far. I put a dead tuxedo urchin shell in there, and he went in and out of it a few times, hopefully he will hang out in that and poke his little head out lol

The problem with clown gobies and sps is that they like to host in the branches and it will sometimes eventually irritate the coral enough til it recedes and dies.

I've read that the coral is usually fine, but they only damage it when breeding when they pick at polyps in a small area to lay their eggs.

The tank didnt support the birds nest, i didnt think it was coral ready yet. I put a nicely branched dead acro skeleton in it, i'm gonna try and grow some zoas on it.

Good idea. When I got my yellow clown goby for my 3 gal I bought a dead sps skeleton for 99 cents for him. It's been months and I want to pull it out, but he loves to perch in there!
