Green finger leather looks brown

When actinics are on, a green finger leather looks fairly green. However, once the daylights kick on, it fairly quickly turns brown with polyp extension. I've made sure it's not a dust etc that can be blown off with a baster.

Is this a sign of too much light, not enough light, or just getting acclimated?

I've had it for a week, previously kept under high levels of MH, currently being kept under 2x40 Current. It's about 1/4 of the way from the top of the tank.

Thanks to all for advice.

i have the same problem. i think its the light. i fragged a piece out of my 65 gal which has has 2 14,000k halide, i let the peice stick to the rubble then put it in a 2 gallon nano with pc light and it doesnt look green any more, it looks yellow and brown. change the light it may be old too.

Thanks, your similar experience is reassuring. I appreciate it.

Light is just 3 mos old. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 70w MH fixture to give myself some more flexibility down the road.
